Principal’s Newsletter 2017-2018 Semester 1 Week 2
After a busy but productive first week of school, students at Ivanhoe Shanghai were excited to take on the unique experiences that would await them in the second week of term. With the anticipated arrival of groups for students from Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne students were equally nervous and excited.
Our theme for week 2 was“Sharing Experiences”,at assembly and in our class meetings students and teachers focused on getting the most out of the experiences that would lie ahead in the following week. This week and next week 41 students from Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne will be visiting Ivanhoe Shanghai and doing some learning activities with our students.Students will have lots of opportunities to communicate with each other and learn from each other during this time.
Even though there is a strong focus on having fun during this time it is important for students to be aware of their surroundings, their study plans and the objectives that need to be achieved in each subject. On the first couple of days of this exchange it has been fantastic to see students engaging with their new friends from Australia, but then being able to get organized and concentrate on their studies when the time is appropriate.
I was very impressed with students from both countries on Friday when less than 10 minutes after students had been outside playing games together they were in the classroom helping each other with their written work.
It has been great to see students trying hard all week, and participating in activities.
